dclong
Forgive my question if it has been posted before, but for the life of me I cannot find it, so please bear with me. What is the best way to set up (or to add to) Retrospect Server for Windows so that it will backup open files such as those related to Outlook? Any and all advice would be tremendously appreciated. Thank you, Daniel
Mayoff
Retrospect 6.0 has new features for this specific issue. Retrospect 6.0 is starting to become available out in the channel right now, and it is the best option for open files.
dclong
Retrospect 6.0 looks *very* interesting -- thank you for pointing that out. On the other hand, it appears to be priced as a $700 add-on (oddly similar to St. Bernard's Open File Manager ... which Veritas [among others] also uses). In any event, for a small home office that is way too expensive!
RandyB
Tell your users to log off Outlook at the end of the day and have Retrospect run at night.
lv2ski
Outlook is another story. With 6.0 we have a built in Outlook feature that will backup the open PST file....it handles shutting it down, backing it up and reopening it all built into 6.0 application. mot
so, are you saying 5.6 (workgroup) will not back up ordinary open files?
