Toranaga1866
I'm presently working out the finer details of setting up a Disk2Disk2Tape backup system using Retrospect Multi Server 7.5 and I was wondering what type of machine you would recommend that would backup most efficiently and wouldn't be too costly at the same time? There are presently Core Duo machines on sale at Dell.com, would something like that be a good choice? Thanks a lot! ~Josh
RonaldL
Whatever system you go with, do not skimp on the amount of ram. Retrospect likes a lot of ram especially when backing up servers with a lot of files.
Toranaga1866
Lots of ram I understand is essential, but how beneficial is it to have a really fast processor? And would it be beneficial to run Retrospect on a Dual Core or Core Duo machine vs. a 3GHz Pentium? Thanks, ~Josh
Mayoff
The faster the computer, the better. Retrospect will use all available processors. I would recommend at least 2 GB of RAM if you plan on backing up large numbers of files or multiple execution units.
