durwin Posted August 2, 2005 Report Share Posted August 2, 2005 I have a scheme which does a full (recycle) backup over weekend. Come monday night, it is suppose to do an incremental. But, since the full has taken up near all of the tape, mondays incremental must start with a new tape. "New Media" backup wants to backup everything again. Formating tape with backup name (the one it is expecting) does not fix problem, as it does not recognize the media as what it last used. Using "Normal", and the tape used on weekend, it will start incremental and then find it ran out of tape and ask for next tape. This is unacceptable. By time I get into office tuesday, I expect the backup to be complete. Is there a solution to this issue? Thank you for your time. Durwin Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
RonaldL Posted August 2, 2005 Report Share Posted August 2, 2005 Go to Configure>Preferences>Media>Request and check Automatic skip to blank media. Insert a n untitled/erased tape into the drive. Schedule a Normal backup and Retrospect will try to find the first member of your backup set to backup to. When it doesn't find that tape, it will look for a blank tape and do a normal backup to it.
