mikerennie
Hi guys can anybody help? We are running retropect 6 on a mixed Mac and PC network. We have a machine running XP pro which we cannot back up. We've turned off the Firewall and we can ping the machine, We can even see it in the client subnet dialogue box. However, when we select it we keep getting the error 530 client not found. any suggestions? Mike please?
Lennart_T
Firewall is the first to check, but you knew that one already. But there's no need to disable it completely: http://kb.dantz.com/display/2n/kb/article.asp?aid=1109&n=3&s= Do you have the latest client installed? Have you tried adding the client by IP address? Lennart_T
We have Win 2000 Retrospect server, XP Pro clients and Mac clients, but don't have your problem. We opened the ports on the XP firewall and have no problems. Sorry I can't be of more help.
nembot
Hi, Do you have any network filter restricting connection to that particular computer? Could you receive and send file from that computer to your backup computer? Thanks
edwardotis
I get the same problem with one machine for some reason. Reinstalled the latest client several times. Anybody figure out a solution?
natew
Hi The Microsoft Port Query utility will help you figure out if port 497 is really open or not. 497 needs to be open for both UDP and TCP traffic. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;310099 Thanks Nate
