sdube
Hi, Some of the users on our network are complaining about the messages box popping up when the server wants to backup its volume. The messages box are sent to all users regardless they have open files or not on the volume. It would be a great feature to only send those messages to users who have open files on those volumes. I think connected users with no open files are not needed to be notified unless Retrospect doesn't block the volume until it has backed it up. What do you think? natew
Hi I believe the backup warning message you are refering to is not actually related to open files. In the options of your proactive backup script you can turn the countdown to zero so that users are not notified before the backup starts. Thanks Nate
sdube
Hi, It is not on the proactive backup. I am not using that option. It is really on the options for the script. If I set the timeout to 0, the users will be forcibly disconnected and this is a bad thing not letting them know... I stand by my suggestion of retrospect checking which users have open files on the volume being backed-up and then only warning those users.
