paulhardingjcs
Why does Retrospect 7.0.3 always say there are files remaining after doing a duplicate to a big USB disk which has more than enough space left on it? Sometimes it's in the order of: "9 files remaining 2,298kb 00:00:001 sec", sometimes more. It did duplicate 1.6GB of data in "00:19:00 sec". This happens every day. Also how do I find out what files are remaining as presumably these haven't been duplicated?
Lennart_T
Have you looked in the Retrospect log? What does it say?
Mayoff
7.0.3 is not a real version number. What is your actual Retrospect version? What operating system version?
paulhardingjcs
Ummm... Help > About says 7.0.3.101 Using Windows Server 2003 SP2. The logs show 38 execution errors, like files that "appear incomplete", or other reasons, but no reasons at all are given for the remaining 9 files (or however many there are that day). P.S.: Oh, on careful examination, Help > About says 7.0.265 OEM update 7.0.3.101 so that's where I got 7.0.3 from. Mayoff
You are not even using the latest version of 7.0. The current version in 7.7. to get the latest 7.0 version go to: http://www.retrospect.com/supportupdates/updates/retrospect/archive/#UPDATETYPE41 Something is preventing these files from being copied. It could be a device communication error. It could be trouble reading the original file or trouble writing the file
paulhardingjcs
Robin, this is a client's machine, and the version of software they are running is due to their own approach to things. I can ask them to upgrade to 7.7 You say that something is... so my question is how do I find out what is causing those files to be left remaining? The log does not help me. Lennart_T
The log does not help me. It might help us if you posted a snippet (from where the backup starts until it is finished).
Ramon88
I believe Robin is suggesting to run the latest version your client is eligible to download. Not to buy 7.7. right away...

Ramon88
Looking at those logs I believe the problem is only with 'open files'. Open files are caused when client users are logged in or software like antivirus is running. Without the open file backup option for Retrospect you will not be able to backup those files. However, these are (most of the time) less important log files and alike. You could create a filter (Edit script > Selecting) for your Retrospect scripts (Configure > Selectors) to exclude those specific files/directories. Works for us like a charm.
