buxtons
We just installed 7.7 Retrospect with the Exchange add-on. Went to back up an Exchange 2010 server and get the following errors. T-9: MapError: unknown Windows error -1,017 Anyone help with the meaning of that? thanks
Lennart_T
If I remember correctly -1017 is a permissions error. Are you sure the user running Retrospect has all the permissions needed? (Check the manual, I don't remember from the top of my head exactly what is needed.)
Mayoff
What specifically were you trying to copy? C:, mailboxes, storage groups, etc? What is the exact error in the log, because that was probably not the full error being displayed.
buxtons
This is the full error: - 7/4/2011 11:01:29 PM: Copying MailDB01 on beaker Backup type: Full T-9: MapError: unknown Windows error -1,017 Trouble reading files, error -1004 ( Database Backup/Restore error) 7/4/2011 11:01:48 PM: Execution incomplete Remaining: 2 files, 2.4 GB Completed: 0 files, zero KB Performance: 0.0 MB/minute Duration: 00:00:18 (00:00:11 idle/loading/preparing) We are trying to backup the mail database. I tried using the same user we use to backup our exchange 2003 server(which works correctly) but doesn't seem to work on this Exchange 2010 server. So I adjusted the user to use the Domain Admin account thinking it may be a permissions issue with the original account and that still did not work. I've had the exact same problem for a while with the mail databases on my Exchange 2010 server. *Still* trying to figure it out. aef79063-4d15-4fa6-9cf8-b7e4ecb42726
Usually by releasing license and put the license back in, will rectify it.
buxtons
I tried releasing the license to no avail. I did notice that the errors reported on the server are all VSS related. Exchange VSS Writer (instance 571d9430-229c-4515-b7db-0350ddf35cf2:30) failed with error code -2147467259 when checking volume dependencies for storage group 'd26a083e-ee66-4191-b64a-b3b2c53f210c' in preparation for backup.
