Duplicate an LTO

Hi all.

 

Still new to Retrospect, but have a few questions. Is there a way to duplicate an LTO tape that I created a month ago? I want to have redundant backups of my tapes, and would like a simple way to copy them bit for bit so that they will refer to the same catalog file as the original.

Not within Retrospect. You can do a backup set transfer, but the resulting tapes will have a different backup set name (and catalog).

What about making more than one LTO at a time on the inital creation? As I create LTO backups can I create multiple duplicate tapes? Will they refer to the same catalog file?

Hi

 

You cannot create identical tapes simulaneously. All you can do is the backup set transfer or snapshot transfer. Transfers can be scripted to run so you won't have to do it manually.
