Martin99
I have a SimpleShare (by SimpleTech) backup disk on a home network, which I understand uses a NAS file structure. I have Retrospect 6.0 which I use to backup to that disk. The Backup is happening BUT not in ancremental mode. It seems to move many more files that haven't been touched. I'm told this is due to file structure incompatibility. Has this issue been addressed in later versions?
nembot
Hi, Make sure that your script is no scheduled to do a recycle backup instead of the incremental backup. Please check the user's guide about the difference between all that. Thanks,
Martin99
I perform both a recycle and incremental to different devices 1. USB connected disk 2. Networked SimpleShare device via Ethernet It is the 'duplicate' or incremental backup over the network which backs up many more files than used on the USB, for identical settings? natew
Hi This is a bug in the NAS, not Retrospect. It is common with Linux based NAS devices that use older versions of SAMBA. The NAS does not track date and time stamps accurately. As a result files that are copied to the NAS end up with a different time stamp. Retrospect correctly sees the time variation and copies the files again. This problem affects "duplicate" but will not interfere with "backups" Look for updates for the NAS. That is your only option. Thanks Nate
