goshiro
Folks-- I just replaced a failed tape drive (used with Backup Exec) with an external SCSI HDD and Retrospect 7. Win Explorer sees the SCSI HDD. When I attempt to backup, the Device scan hangs at Device ID 1:1:0. Hourglass, dial spinning, after a while, Task Manager lists Retrospect "Not Responding". This happens if the external HDD is turned OFF also.... Win NT4.0 Workstation, SP6a, current MicroSquish updates Retrospect Pro 7.0.326, Retro Update 7.0.6.108 There are 2 IDE HDD in the box as well as the external SCSI HDD. Any suggestions? nembot
Hi, update your OS and check if you could see that HDD in windows explorer, if yes, just restart your computer. Thanks,
natew
Hi Will NT backup work with the tape drive or does it hang too? Its generally a bad idea to mix tape and disk on the same SCSI chain. If possible use a seperate SCSI card for the tape drive. Thanks nate
goshiro
> Will NT backup work with the tape drive or does it hang too? The tape drive is broken and physically removed from the system when the external SCSI HDD was attached. New course of action: The tape drive was replaced with another almost identical tape drive I found in the scrap heap. I am testing the drive with the old BackupExec that used to run things.... I am assembling a new XP system from scrap parts and will install Retro 7 on the new system using an external SCSI HDD for backup. I am hoping that there will be no problems as I have used Retro Express on other XP systems with ease. The old NT system will be retired soon.... I'll be back.... goshiro
Retro 7 running on the new XP host with the external SCSI disk as the backup media. I guess the ol' NT machine is destined for recycling..... End of thread.
