misleb
How would I go about executing a command before and/or afer a client backup? For example, before I backup our Groupwise server, I want to stop the post office and start it again when the backup completes. Because I'd like to minimize the amount of downtime and be certain that Groupwise isn't running when the backup is going, I I would Retrospect to do the starting and stopping. Otherwise, I have to schedule Groupwise to shut down at a certain time and hope that the backup starts and stops within that time. If not possible with Netware clients, how about OS X, Linux, or Windows? There are always services that would, ideally, not run during a backup. -matthew
nembot
Hi, Check if the External scripting of retrospect could give you a lift, I haven't tried it but according to their user's guide (page 283) you could execute external scripts for such actions. misleb
Sounds like it runs on the server only. Or at least on Windows only. I imagine I could find some way to have a Windows script send a signal to a client to stop a service, but that is a fair amount of coding, methinks. -matthew
natew
Hi External scripts are supported on Windows and Linux clients. I'm verifying if Netware clients are supported or not. Thanks Nate
misleb
Linux clients? Really? The Retrospect manual only mentions Windows scripts. -matthew
