Clients visible/unvisible over the network

I run Retrospect workgroup server 5.1 from a beige G3 with OS 9.22 and AppleShareIP 6.3. It sees all clients under MacOS 9.xx, and it sees our three clients under MacOSX. But I managed to register only one client (iMac G-4, OS 3.5 Panther). When I try to register the two others (iMacG3, OSX 2.8 Jaguar, and PowerMac G4, OSX 3.5 Panther), I get the message (retranslated from German):

"Error Code -1028, User not visible in the network".

But it is visible in the client database, I just cannot register it. What can I do?

Well, I myself found a first answer. When I disable the firewall, the OSX client can be registered. I would like, however, to use the firewall and to open only the necessary port(s) for Retrospect. Does anybody know what I have to check in the firewall window of the system settings of OSX?
