Guest
Dear support A friend of mine has a Maxtor Onetouch external harddrive that comes with Retrospect Express. One of the options with Retrospect Express is that you can set the computer to auto-shutdown upon completing the backup. However one thing that he noticed was that when the auto-shutdown option is turned on, after Retrospect finishing backing up, it doesn't check whether a user is logged on and still using the computer before it starts shutting down the computer. So someone could be still work on the computer and the computer will shutting down on him. Is this a known limitation in Retrospect Express? Is it addressed in the Professional Version. Thank you
natew
Hi As you have noticed the shutdown command will turn off the machine regardless of what other apps are open and who is logged on. Your best bet is to set Retrospect to "quit". That way only Retrospect will close. Thanks Nate
Guest
Is this a limitation to Retrospect Express, or does it apply to all versions?
natew
Hi This affects all versions of Retrospect for Windows but I wouldn't call it a limitation. Retrospect issues a standard Windows shutdown command after the backup. If anything its a limitation in the Windows shutdown API.
