daviddrescher1 Posted July 6, 2004 Report Share Posted July 6, 2004 Scheduled backups are failing with Retrospect version 6.5.336 running Server 2000 The errors are: Could not start the retrospect helper service Could not start retrospect launcher service. Error 193 %1 not a valid win 32 application Both services are set up to run as the logged on user (administrator) and to automatically start. natew Posted July 6, 2004 Report Share Posted July 6, 2004 Hi The helper service only starts when doing a registry restore. Otherwise it stays stopped. Make sure you do not manually change the log on settings for these services. All of that should be handled in the Retrospect preferences in the security section. It sounds like the launcher service is corrupt. In the Retrospect preferences disable the launcher service under the startup menu. Then reboot the server, download Retrospect 6.5.350 from the updates page and install it. Reboot the server again and re-enable the service.
