Teitzell
ANY illumination would be deeply appreciated... I'm backing up to TDK Brand 48x-compatible CD-R's. About half the time it all works fine. The other half of the time during writing the CD burner spins up and down and up and down and finally delivers Error 206 (Bad media, dirty heads, etc.) Sometimes the backup completes despite the spin up/down/up/down, although it takes awhile. Almost seems to get tripped up on particular files. After Error 206, Retrospect requests the next blank disc and sometimes writing proceeds to completion of the backup! But sometimes the Error 206 repeats until I give up. What's baffling is the inconsistency. Seems like the problem is most prevalent when writing to semi-full discs. SPECS: I'm running Retrospect 5.1.177 on a G3 with OS9.1. Using a RATOC "PCIFU1" Firewire & USB expansion card which allows me to connect via Firewire: a LITE-ON LTR-48125W, (yes - listed as a Dantz supported device), Retrospect gives this other device info... Version: VS06, Driver: Lite-On CD-RW (5.11)
natew
Hi Can you try running the backup with a base extension set + Retrospect? Also increase the preferred memory size of Retrospect. Does it make any difference if you try to connect via USB? Thanks Nate
