interceptor3
My Retrospect Professional 6.5 regularly crashes during backup. No idea why. The problem is that the backup set (on a 40gig hard drive) gets corrupted. Any attempt at a subsequent backup results in error: Assertion Failure at elem-ccp-861. Can anyone help by telling me how to fix the backup set. I do not want to have to recycle the set. I want to fix it. Any attempt at fixing the media or rebuilding the catalog results in the same error as above. Please help, as this is very frustrating. I am no longer doing backups. Thanks. kolstadio
I had the same problem with a slightly different error message - lost 21GB of data and no one at Dantz even knew what the error message was let alone was able to offer assistance in correcting the problem. The bottom line, it seems, is if your backup set gets corrupted, you are out of luck. In my case after my backup and verify was complete there were no errors reported, so I didn't even see it coming. So far it's cost me over $3,000 replacing fonts, downloaded images, plug-ins, etc. (I'm a graphic designer) - Expensive lesson
natew
Hi What is the format of your external hard disk? How is it connected to the machine? What OS are you using? Thanks Nate
