kingsman85
I am running Retrospect 4.x server on a Macintosh, and Retrospect 5.6 clients on my Windows desktops. Does this configuration support backing up mapped drives from the client to the server? I have seen nothing in the server piece that would lead me to believe that it does, so I am hoping there is some way to tell it to backup mapped drives. natew
Hi Macintosh file sharing has some file size limitations that make this impractical. Specifically you won't be able to back up more that 2GB of data into your sets. Your best bet for saving data on a network machine is to set it up as an FTP server and use an internet backup set in Retrospect. Nate
kingsman85
To clarify, I am not really interested in Mac client backups...I have Windows clients that have mapped drives and I would like to backup those mapped network drives from the Windows clients to the Mac server. Is that possible?
natew
Hi I believe Retrospect for Macintosh will try to access mapped drives on Windows clients but it isn't the most efficient way to do things. Can you install Retrospect client on the source of the mapped volumes? Thanks Nate
