lucidtechster
Hi All, Hopefully someone can help me with these: 1. Is there an option to force Retrospect to create a snapshot whenever a subvolume is backed up? 2. My client attempted a subvolume restore from a HD-file set backup. I was called in to help after she failed. I then discovered that the .rdb file that contains the snapshot she wanted restored is missing. Short of someone actually going into the external HD and deleting that .rdb file via windows explorer, is there any way to delete the .rdb file from within Retrospect without being aware of it? Setup : Retrospect 6.5 on Windows XP home Edition. Backing up to a BusLink external USB2 HD Thanks Kwab
natew
Hi Snapshots are created for each subvolume by default. If you are using Retrospect Express you will need to upgrade to Retrospect professional in order to access past snapshots. If Retrospect ran a backup and compare with no errors on the file then we at least know that the file was present and functional immediately after the backup. Have you tried running disk scandisk on the USB drive to make sure there are no errors on the disk? Has the user tried to use the windows XP system restore utility to restore the USB disk? That could account for missing data. Thanks Nate
lucidtechster
Thanks Nate. 1. We are using Retrospect Pro 6.5 2. According the logs, all backups have been successful. So the file was present immediately after the backups. 3. I am going to check for disk errors on the USB drive and attempt the Norton File unerase utility as well.
