AstroBoy
I give the path: \\server\share/username/backups/astroboy I get this error: Error getting volume information, cannot add this volume to the database. From a dos window this command works fine: dir "\\server\share/username/backups/astroboy" So I know the path is correct, and I do have the correct permission. I have been using this SAMBA server for over 6 months for other stuff. I am attempting to use NAS (SAMBA) as a backup device. Thanks, Astro
natew
Hi Can you browse to the samba share via my network? Something tells me that Retrospect doesn't like the forward slashes. Nate
AstroBoy
Sorry for the delay, been out of town. Not within the Retrospect program. It will browse up to the point of the share name, but not byond to the directory I want to use. I don't have write permission at the share, but I do within some of the directories. The share is used by others, not just me. Each of us has a user directory that we fully own/control. But Retrospect can't get to my directory. Any other method I use to get to the directory works fine. The problem seems limited to Retrospect. Astro
AstroBoy
Should I un-install retrospect? Anyone know a product that works? Or at least has better support?
churchtown
At the point where you get that Volume error have you tried doubleclicking/rightclicking, so that you can input your login/password. I get similar trouble with some unattended backups run over my intranet. best wishes, Robert
