mdavid
The problem that I am having is that the Retrospect Client on my WinXP Pro (SP1) machines keeps stopping. If I go into Services and I restart the Retrospect service, the client gets reactivated. I have tried re-installing and the client works for a bit and then shuts down again. Any suggestions? pjchris
I have noticed this too. It seems if the computer goes to sleep or hibernates the client does not work. If the computer is shut down then everything is fine. As a work araound I have written a logon script that stops and the starts the client service and this works well (As long as the client is not backing up at the time of logon. Then the backup aborts).
awnews
This problem was discussed in several other threads and Dantz claimed they fixed it with a Client update (6.5.136). I've applied the update to most of my client boxes and am keeping my eyes on it. However I noticed that Matt@SMLS says he's already using this most recent client based on the post subject. How about pjchris? "We have fixed a problem that prevented the client from loading after the computer Sleeps or Hibernates" http://forums.dantz.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=38938&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1 http://forums.dantz.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=35673&page=&view=&sb=5&o=&fpart=all&vc=
mdavid
I was also wondering if it is okay to install the client through a network share or if it is better to run the installer directly from the workstation.
awnews
I've installed most of my clients (> 35 so far) from a network directory rather than a CD. I've installed all the updates (to .136) via the Client Update feature (per-client or global update) built into RMS.
pnord
Same thing here. Backups running great. XP systems seem to configure. But they hang on backup and report 518 errors.
