Vigor
We run an older version - Retrospect 4.0 - to back up our Macintosh computers. The application came on two floppies and the clients came on a third disk. We have 10 clients and everything works fine for now. Soon we are going to order a new tape drive, which will come with Retrospect Desktop 5.0. Here is my question: Do I need to pay $99 to upgrade our 10 clients, or can I just use them as-is with RS Desktop 5.0? If you have gone through something similar, please respond. IrenaS
You will be receiving the Desktop application, which is licensed to only back up the local machine. To use that version with clients, you will need to pay the upgrade price for those 10 clients, which will allow the 5.0 application to log in clients. You don't have to pay an upgrade price for the application, and you don't even have to upgrade the software that's installed on the client computers if you don't want to. The upgrade price would be $99. Irena Solomon Dantz Tech Support
