wscott44
Hi Folks: I am reading the chapter on networked backups in the Retrospect 6.5 manual and have not come across the answer to this yet. I am trying to configure the server to backup a client, which it found okay. However, I cannot see the source drives to backup. Questions: - are all drives on the client machine backed up by default? - must the drives be made shareable? - if the client's drives must be shareable, does that present a security risk? my client happens to be a PC that establishes an internet connection and shares it with the other PCs in the house. Thank you, Wayne Scott
natew
Hi The drives should all be visible via the client even with Sharing disabled. There is proabaly a permissions problem on the client machine that prevents the drives from being seen. This may help: http://www.dantz.com/index.php3?SCREEN=kbase&ACTION=KBASE&id=26571 Nate
wscott44
Thanks. The situation seemed to improve after a reboot. Wayne Scott
