Guest
I've just downloaded the V6.5 Trial Version and am having a problem with the Installer. I start up SETUP.EXE ok and then choose Install Retrospect. Next the Windows Installer starts up OK and I get the V6.5 splash screen. I click next, and then accept the license agreement. I then fill in the User Name and leave the Organization blank. I then Click on Reccomended and Next> I then get the Ready to Install the Program and click Install. I next instantly get: ======================================= InstallShield Wizard Completed The Wizard was interrupted before Retrospect 6.5 could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again. Click Finish to exit the wizard. ====================================== I've tried a bunch of times and no dice. Any idea what's wrong or how to debug this? I've tried this intall on one of my "baby" systems and it went OK. bob ps. This looks like good software and I'm anxious to check it out on the "Big Boy." natew
Hi This is caused by an install shield problem. You can try: removing temp files from the system Running the installer as a different user Running the installer from the root of the C drive. Take a look at your windows event logs for any other errors and chase them up at the install shield site. Hope that helps! Nate
Guest
I checked my event logs and found nothing there of interest. My disks have at least 10GB of free space on each one. I checked the InstallShield site and there were several problems listed there. It seems that there is a potential issue with MSDE 2000 installations. Its not clear to me if the problem is that you or I have a conflict with MSDE 2000. Check out: http://community.installshield.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=120586 Most of the issues that were posted there seemed to be developer issues with IS. Not being an InstallShield licensee I cannot get on-line tech support from them - that's your job. I can't spend much more time debugging your code. What release of InstallShield are you using? natew
Robert, Your install logs indicate that the installer is stored at the root of the D drive - is that correct? Are you installing to a non-default location? Have you tried using defaults? Did you try the other things I suggested? -removing temp files from the system (to remove corrupt files not to save space) -Running the installer as a different user (to eliminate permissions errors) -Running the installer from the root of the C drive. (this is known to work in some situations where the Windows installer is having trouble) Thanks Nate
Guest
Success! I had tried clearing the old temp files, that did not help. I had logged in as administrator and that did not help. I wasn't sure what you meant by "run from the c: disk root?" I think what you meant was to copy d:\archive\dantz\retrospect 6.5\... to c:\retrospect 6.5\... I did that and the install ran just fine. Also, I have installed two clients from \\computer\archive\dantz\retrospect 6.5\... with no problem. Sounds like you have issues installing from other than C:\. Note: the root drive does not have to be C:\ in a W2K system, that is an assumption that most people wrongly make. Anyway -- thanks for the info. Now onto the evaluation. -- So far this looks real good. bob
