EnterpriseIG
Hi, I backup a Win2000 Server from a Mac B&W G3 using a mounted Appleshare Volume. When we restore the Mac files, via a client on the Win2000 server, they lose their file TYPE information so that the mac users now see them as windows files and they can't open the applications that created them by clicking on the files. For example: eps/psd files won't open with photoshop. This problem can be resolved by opening the application first, then openning the file and saving a new copy. Does anyone know how i can get round this problem (an application maybe??) or is there any way to retain the file TYPE information when restoring?? Thanks!!! natew
Hi You need to run the restore directly to the mounted AFP volume - don't use Retrospect client. When you do the restore via retrospect client you completely bypass AFP. As windows does not support file types the are lost on restore.
