jabramsxx
I started with a Maxtor drive and upgraded my Retrospect Express to Retrospect 6.5. I'd like to use the one touch button to run a script that I've created instead of the straight backup it which is the default. How do I do this? jabramsxx
Is this the proper forum for this question. If not, please refer me. Thanks
natew
Hi To do this you need to do the following: Install the Retrospect version and one touch software that came with your drive. Then install Retrospect 6.5.336 over the top of it. You will be able to use the one touch as is. 6.5.336 is avail from the Dantz updates page. jabramsxx
That's the version I have..which was an update of the express version. Pressing the button on the drive brings up retrospect but how do I associate that button with my scripts?
krgraham
OK, but how do I do that under Mac OS X 10.3.2 (Panther)? Using Maxtor 5000DV. Installed Retrospect Express, then installed Retrospect 5.1.175, then trashed Express. Created script "Maxtor OneTouch" as per documentation, but NOTHING happens when I press the one-touch button on the Maxtor drive! Script runs fine when manually invoked. Suggestions? natew
Hi Sorry about that. This is the Windows Section of the forum so I assumed you were using windows. My understanding is that the one touch feature is not supported under OSX 10.3 at the moment. You may want to confirm that with Maxtor though. jabramsxx
We might have some confusion here, as we have two different people asking questions. I'm the windows fellow. What I want to do is associate the push button on the drive with a given script. Can I do it? I have 3 drives and it would be cool if the push button on each drive would run a different script.! AmyJ
The OneTouch button can only work with one script - and the script must be called Maxtor OneTouch. It is not possible to have multiple scripts with the same name or change the script name that the button calls.
jabramsxx
Thanks Amy. Actually, my three scripts are the same except for the use of different backup sets. Is there a prompting language in the scripts so I could leave that detail out until run time?
