Huw_1
I've been wondering about the location of the catalogs. Express needs these catalogs in order to retrieve a backed-up copy, and my catalogs are on my PC, but isn't one of the main points in making a back-up that something might happen to my PC? Am I right that if my PC packs up and my catalogs are on that PC, then I won't be able to retrieve my data?
natew
Hi You can rebuild your catalog from your backup media very easily. In the event of a disk crash you can just put in your last piece of backup media and rebuild from there. You'll be all set. The reason the catalog is separate from the data is speed. Having a separate index (catalog) of the data makes working with your backups much faster. Nate
