DVD Not Found (but it's there)

Recommended Posts

Using Retrospect Express 5.0.238 with OS 10.2.8, on a 17" iMac with original equipment. Retrospect won't back up to DVDs. I check Configure>Devices, and it sees the DVD (which is mounted on the desktop). But when I try to backup to the DVD, I get this error message every time: "Sorry, no disc storage devices found." I have tried erasing the DVD with the Finder and with Retrospect, but I always get this message. I've looked through all the troubleshooting and FAQs, and tried to search the crooked hallways of this site, but I haven't found the answer. Sigh. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi

Make sure you are using a CD/DVD backup set and NOT a Removeable disk backup set. Make sure you have Retrospect driver update 3.6 installed and that it is loading (listed in the Retrospect log). Put in a completely unformatted and blank DVD only AFTER retrospect asks for it. CDs and DVDs that have been burned by Retrospect will not be visible in the finder.

If the problems continue please post the make and model of your drive

Thanks

Nate
