stempelman Posted October 29, 2003 Report Share Posted October 29, 2003 Hello, I have a couple of travan drives and about 10 Travan tapes I want to put on eBay as I no longer use them but I am hesitant to put the tapes up because I know recovery services could recover the information unless they were securely erased. I also know you can't "bulk erase" travan tapes. My search of Usenet tells me that some software programs offer a secure erase function. I don't see anything like this in Retrospect. Mayoff Posted October 29, 2003 Report Share Posted October 29, 2003 You would need to do repeated backups of "junk" data to the tape until you filled it up. You could also create a backup set with using one of our encryption methods and then perform enough backup to fill the tape. The data would not be readable without the password.
