Aopen CDRW CRW5224 unable to configure

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have installed an Aopen CRW5224 drive which works fine with Nero and other CD burning software.

I have just downloaded the latest 6.5 program and driver update to attempt to solve the problem.

I follow the directions here

http://www.retrospect.com/index.php3?SCREEN=kbase&ACTION=KBASE&id=27811

and find on the enviroment tab that the drive is displayed as expected but right click on the drive the configure option is grayed out.

Confirmed the drive had latest firmware here

Running Windows XP Pro with all updates.

Any Ideas?

Hi

you could try installing ASPI using the ASPIINST.exe installer in the Retrospect program folder. That will change the way Retrospect looks down the bus at the device.

What kind of hard drive controller do you have? What other IDE devices do you have and how are they set up?

I ran aspichk.exe first and showed no asapi installed or detected.

I ran aspiinst.exe and rebooted.

Now the utility detects 2 host adaptors.

I have

IDE 0

2 x 80G

IDE 0

1 x Aopen CRW5224

All drives are set to CS cable select and using the 80 connection cable ATA66

Exact same setup works if I put my old Sony 24x drive in.

Just does not seem to like the new drive.

IDE is off of main motherboard. Gigabyte GA-8IE800

Any other ideas?

Ian
