Catalog out of sync error (and recommended fix not working)

Hi, I've been repeatedly getting the following error:


Catalog out of sync with backup set “Backup Set A”. Select Tools>Repair>Update Existing from the Directory.


This happens on backups when Retrospect (Backup v. 5.0.205 running on system Mac OS 9.2.2) is trying to back up an OSX client.


I have repeatedly followed the error message instructions and have both attempted to updated the existing catalog or repair existing catalog... Retrospect announces that it has successfully accomplished the update or repair, yet the next time I run retrospect, it gives me the same error that the catalog is out of sync.


Any ideas for working past this?
