k.cwiley
I recently upgraded from Retrospect DeskTop 4.3 to 5.0, and I am running Retrsospect 5 on a G4 under OS 9.2.2. I back up to a 60 GB external (FireWire) LaCie HD. I have successfully backed up both partitions on my G4 HD and the entire HD on my old G3 Power Book 5300cs. The problem arises when I attempt to back up my G4 laptop. The scanning process terminates with an error -37; invalid file, but the log doesn't identify the offending file(s). Retrospect never gets past the scanning and into the backup process. I have run Techtool Pro on the problem HD, and there are no apparent errors. I have no anti-virus or other protection SW running when I attempt the backup. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to correct this problem? natew
Hi You are going to have to manually hunt down this file I'm afraid. Define all of the folders on the root of your hard drive as subvolumes and attempt to back them up one by one. When you find the one that fails repeat the process with all of the folders within the problem subvolume. Eventually you will narrow down the problem file. It sounds bad but it isn't as painful as you'd expect. Nate
