soe
We have been using retrospect 5.5 & 6 (as it is bundled with Sony DAT drives) and have found any machine running version 6 hangs when we eitherreboot or shut down the server. Windows GUI closes, but the machine hangs with a cursor blinking in the top left of screen and thats it. As the system is not shutting down gracefully, we are worried that this may be a potential point of data damage. This problem seems to be with retrospect 6 and not 5.5. It happens on different systems with the only common denominators being Retrospect 6, Sony drive, Intel based white box Servers (yes real server boards) and Small Business Server 2000. Any help or leads would be welcomed. Thanks
natew
Hi, Chances are this is a problem with the open file backup component of Retrospect 6.0. Open file is installed by default even if you have not purchased the license to use it. You can remove it by running the Retrospect setup program again and deselecting the open file backup component. I wouldn't worry about data damage too much Nate
