bkim
I was just about to purchase Retrospect Desktop for my Mac (PBG4) which I use at work when I found out that my office will be purchasing Retrospect Server (Win). Since I am using my personal computer at work I have both work files and personal files on my laptop. It makes sense to back up my work files through Retrospect Server at work, but of course I want to backup the remaining personal files separately. What needs to be installed on my PBG4? Will Ret Desktop (Mac) work as a client for Ret Server (Win) or will I need to install Ret Client software as well? Or can I not have both programs running on one computer? Or can Ret Client be used to perform the seprate task of backing up my personal files? Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks.
Mayoff
For the server in your office to see the PowerBook, you will need to install the Client software. The home backups will use the Retrospect Desktop software on the PowerBook and the office backups will use the client.
bkim
Thanks for the quick response Mayoff! Just wanted to clarify...having both client and Desktop running at the same time won't cause any conflicts?
