jflowers2
I tried to use System Restore (XP Home) today, and it's a no-go. Won't restore to any of my restore points. Used Backup Express a few weeks ago to back up to Maxtor. System Restore always worked before that. I didn't turn it off when I ran Backup Express. Its startup type is listed as "automatic." The only drive listed for restore points is C. Can't find any cause for this glitch other than Backup Express. Will keep on searching XP problems unless someone here has an idea. jflowers2
Upon further investigation, it appears that one must disable System Restore before running Retrospect Express. Are there upgrades to 5.6 that eliminate this problem? Otherwise, it's bye-bye Retrospect Express.
AmyJ
Disabling System Restore may be required when running Windows XP _and_ backing up to hard drive. http://www.dantz.com/index.php3?SCREEN=kbase&ACTION=KBASE&id=27294
natew
Hi There, The good news is you can turn off system restore on your Maxtor drive only. That way you get to keep the restore points on any of your other drives. Right click on the My computer Icon and open the system restore tab. At the bottom of the tab, highlight the maxtor drive and click on the settings button. From here you can trun of system restore on this drive only Nate
