pscs
In 6.5 I quite like the new Activity Monitor, especially the ability to see 'waiting' tasks, and what they're waiting for. However, I'd like to be able to manually queue up tasks. Eg, I have 5 backup scripts set to use the same tape drive (it's an autochanger). If one task is backing up to the drive, other tasks can get queued by the scheduler, but if I manually try to add a task (eg because it failed at the previous schedule time and I've fixed it), then I get told that I can't because the tape drive is busy. Why can't it just add it to the waiting list as it does for scheduled tasks?
Mayoff
A proactive backup script would give you the ability to que up a task. Proactive will also auto-Retry on a failed backup attempt.
pscs
I've never really understood proactive backups... Don't they need to be initiated from the client PC? I want to be able to start them from the server so I don't have to walk all over the building...
AmyJ
Please see the following White Paper on Proactive Backups: http://www.dantz.com/en/about/press/white_papers.dtml Backups are always initiated from the Server, not from the Client.
