Maser
This must be right in front of me, but I'm missing it. I back up Windows clients with Mac Retrospect 5. I want to have my selector skip C:\WINDOWS - or basically the "WINDOWS" directory on the boot volume (assuming they've kept the name C:, but maybe not...) Setting the selector so that it reads: enclosing folder path name exactly matches C:\WINDOWS is not exempting it. What am I doing wrong with that selector? Mayoff
Hello, Go to Configure>Volumes. Browse the C: disk. Click on the Windows directory and "get info" or "properties" on the Windows directory. Retrospect will then display the exact path. You want to use that exact format and path displayed inside the get info window for the directory.
Maser
OK. I think I got it. saying enclosing folder path name contains :\windows\ seems to allow me to *exempt* the directory But a followup question: If I search machines that have been previously backed up (as I've not applied this selector) and do a "restore search" for the *exact same* selector statement, I am not bringing up *any* files. But searching for: enclosing folder path name contains windows brings up stuff (more than I want, actually...), including C:\WINDOWS on all the machines I backed up The way I was trying to test the selector was to try to bring up stuff that *was* backed up. What am I missing here that's different in this method?
