thetapeguy
I've got an interesting scenario that I was wondering if anyone had seen before -- or if it is a known issue. Setup: Host machine: PowerMac 8100, MacOS 8.6, Retro 4.3 Desktop, Quantum DLT7000 File server: NT Server 4 SP6 (also tested with 2000 Server SP2) I'm trying to archive about 34GB of data off of the file server. When I try to do all 34GB at once, I get a "Type 2" error. The error occurs before anything starts being written to tape. If I split it up into two chunks and do 17GB at a time, it's fine. Therefore, somewhere between 17GB and 34GB there is a breaking point. Anybody have any ideas what it is or how to fix it?? Just knowing the exact breaking point would be nice so that I could plan archives accordingly. djg
bgoldes
There may be a file that is larger than the amount of contiguous free space available on the server. If this is the case, defrag/optimize.
Mayoff
Keep an eye out for files larger then 2 gigs, The Mac OS can not copy files larger then 2 gigs over the network. Do you get the type 2 error when using the duplicate feature in Retrospect? It will copy and do a byte by byte verify of the data during the copy process
