Mayoff
I do not think this is a supported drive. The only supported IBM DAT drive (I think that is a DDS-5 DAT drive) is a IBM 00N7991

blackpen
Yes, its' internal IBM DDS Dat72. so the tape drive is supported by Retrospect, it mean that Retrospect should work well with it. Pls take a look at my problem again, why the Tape does't listed in tab [status] of Storage devices window pls help. tks so much !
Mayoff
It could be because the drive is not correctly displaying itself as a DAT72 but is instead showing up at the Gen5 drive. Supported DAT72 drives: http://www.retrospect.com/supportupdates/technical/retrospect/search/?q=dat72
blackpen
Dear Mayoff, I would like to provide you more the current status of my Tape drive. My Tape drive is Quantum DAT 72 SATA, this tape us supported by Retrospect. Here is the link The xTalk utility from IBM website also recognize the Tape Drive, it also pass all checking of xTalk. here is the link of tool that I was using: http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/docdisplay?lndocid=MIGR-5073759 One again, I would like to confirm that the tape drive could working well with Backup utility that included in Ms Windows. In Retrospect, if I disable the Tape Drive in Device Manager, I would see the tape drive appear in status tab of Storage Devices window. It appear as "IBM DAT" but its status is "Not Responding", and it cannot be use to backup. Kind Regards Edited August 16, 2010 by Guest
blackpen
PROBLEM SOLVED. I have get support from Retrospect by opening a ticket on their website. It seem much better then posting question here. I would like to share my solution, and hope that it could help you as well It's possible your config files are corrupt. Please have a copy of your licenses handy.Try this: 1) Close retrospect and make sure both retrospect.exe and retrorun.exe are not running in memory. 2) Rename the C:\documents and settings\all users\application data\retrospect directory to something like retrospect_bak (in windows xp) 3) Reopen retrospect. It will prompt you for your license number so make sure to have that handy... You will have no backup sets, clients or anything configured yet, so try adding a few clients and create a couple of new temporary backup sets. Try backing up and see if it works. 4) When you're done you can delete the C:\documents and settings\all users\application data\retrospect folder and replace it with the retrospect_bak folder to get all your settings back... Have a nice day !
