ManFromGlad
I have just downloaded the Windows 5.6 Backup Server trial version and installed the server and client on 2 separate machines. I have 2 questions: 1) I notice that the client interface does not have a customized file choice capability. In other words, the client has no way to specify the files that they wish to backup or restore. Please confirm if I am right. 2) I have been unable on the server to specify a backup set to be saved to a hard drive. When I go to the Configure... Storage Devices... item, I am unable to add a local drive, another mapped network drive or a specfic local folder as a location to collect my backup data. Does Retrospect only allow backups to removeable media? TIA
Mayoff
1) The client control panel only has a choice to exclude files from the backup. Future versions will give users the ability to restore from this interface. 2) If you create a "file" backup set, you should be able to save that to any disk. The following tutorial shows how to backup to a hard disk: http://www.dantz.com/index.php3?SCREEN=tutorial_winretro_ibhd1
