wlazara
We have 7.6 and we have one Win2008r2 server. Can the latest 7.6 client work on this server, and/or can we use the 7.7 client to back up to our 7.6 retrospect server? Thanks, Wes

wlazara
Hi Robin, I know it will work with 2008 server, but I am asking about 2008r2 server - a completely different product. 2008 is the server version of Vista; 2008r2 is the server version of Win7. Please advise, thanks!
Mayoff
2008 R2 is fine.
wlazara
OK, just confirming that an official Retrospect technical support engineer (the senior manager no less!) has stated that the 7.6 client will function properly and is fully supported on Windows 2008 R2 operating system. Thanks, will install now! -Wes
Ramon88
*L* Robin Mayoff IS Senior Manager Technical Support at EMC. :teeth: ...But you could also just have referred to Robin's post above knowing this is the case... If not, it would be quite funny.
Mayoff
Let me correct myself on this thread. I forgot that 7.6 does not correctly handle active directory backups and you must use the 7.7 version for AD to be backed up successfully. wlazara
Yes Ramon, I was referring to Robin, perhaps with too much subtlety =) Robin, by this latest post I am assuming that you mean the 7.6 client will not work properly on a Windows 2008 R2 server that is a domain controller, but is fine as long as it is a member server (which is what we have). Let me know, Thanks! Wes
Mayoff
I mean the Application, not the client. The 7.6 application does not correctly handle 2008 AD.
