dnessun
I am using Windows XP Professional (SP2). Every time I try to back up my computer to my external hard drive, when Retrospect reaches the MountPointManagerRemoteDatabase file, it locks up and I cannot continue the backup. Tried some suggestions from the internet, but to no avail. Has anyone else out there in Retrospect land had the same problem and able to resolve it? Mayoff
Have you tried excluding that file from the backup by unchecking it?
dnessun
Thanks Robin That definitely resolved the problem. Since I have used Retrospect 6.5 since 2006, this is the first time that the program hung up on me and really threw me for a loop. Otherwise, Retrospect 6.5 runs like a fine Swiss/German watch. FYI – the MountPointManagerRemoteDatabase file is found in the SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION folder. This folder is placed there by the MICROSOFT RESTORE PROGRAM. I unchecked the folder before I started the backup. (This is the first time I have ever had to unselect a folder/file.) The thing I do not understand is that this bug just happened less than a week ago. Computers – go figure. Thanks again for solving my problem. EMC Retrospect forever.
