Subpar program steals focus

I have been experiencing issues(as well as others I have found) with Express HD 2.5.113 where it constantly takes focus from the current displayed window. Just happened in fact haha. Has anyone heard of a way to stop this? it's terribly annoying, and I'm supposed to deploy this to 50pcs for our Iomega NAS. [color:red]EMC is just awful at support, just awful![/color] I recently upgraded to this version in hopes it would fix it, but yeah. Running WinXP sp3

Same here. Its' REALLY annoying. About every one minute or so, the Retrospect HD tray icon steals focus from whatever application you're in, typing in, or whatever. There's clearly no need for this undesirable "feature", and it's clearly been a problem for at least two versions now.

When will they fix it? Do they even care? So far, it seems not. I agree about the support -- Retrospect don't seem to even answer emails or read their own forum. But then, forums were NEVER a decent way to support a product. Online support ticketing systems are what work. *sigh* At least someone will eventually actually read the fault reports that way.

Can you tell us how to avoid it? It happens every one minute to one person. Every five minutes to me. Can we just disable the Retrospect tray app? Or must we disable all scheduling?

This is awfully annoying. I've been using Retrospect for many many years and just bought my Iomega drive specifically because it came with Retrospect. I guess I should rethink next time.

You can exit the software on the task bar and see if that helps.

I have been running my laptop this way for the past 10 months, and everything appears to be okay. I’ve restored a handful of individual files successfully. I have not tried to do any large restores, however.

Not getting any completion confirmation back from backup software is risky to say the least, but if you’re willing to take the chance like I did, then you may be okay.

That said, I’m ready to move onto something more current that is supported and am wondering if anyone has found similar alternatives. I have a new Windows 7 laptop on the way and would like backup software that has similar point-in-time restore capability like Retrospect Express HD has.
