jasonperrone
Hi, I am running Retrospect Professional on Vista 32 bit. Since I have installed it, not once has the scheduled job I have setup run, which is 2am every day. Verifying the script and checking the media always shows everything is set to go. Every morning, I try to open Retrospect to see if it ran,and I only get the monitor box, indicating another process is running, but no Retrospect processes are in fact running, confirmed by task manager and System Explorer. I renamed retromonitor.exe so that it wouldn't run, and now I get the Window that says Retrospect is already running, but when I click ok it then proceeds to go into Retrospect. I installed the Retrospect main program and the driver update. My about screen reads the following. Keep in mind I am only 3 days into a trial of the product: Professional Limited Time License Version 7.6.123 Driver Update and Hot Fix, version 7.6.3.102 I found this in the log file. It says Backup Set A is corrupt but I am able to do an on demand backup to backup set A with no problem. Mayoff
For the error I would consider just erasing the backup folder and start over again. I don't think a catalog rebuild will help much for this issue. All the other stuff in the log is odd but may be random debug logging we can ignore. jasonperrone
Hmmm. Does that make sense, since I am able to manually backup to Backup Set-A. If it's corrupt, I would think it would be corrupt for all backups, not just automated ones.
jasonperrone
So it looks like I fixed the problem by setting the login information to my file server that Backup Set A exists on. For some reason, using Retrospect manually, I never needed to enter that, but to run it on a schedule I needed to set the properties on Backup Set A and provide the user name and login to that server. Mayoff
Setting up the authentication for automated backup is expected. This is outlined in the knowledgebase and user's guide.
jasonperrone
I understand that. I am just surprised that you guys didn't catch that from the log messages.
Mayoff
Never seen that error before, so it would be impossible for me to "catch". I also don't see a mention of network based backup in your post either.
jasonperrone
Alright. I love this product so I am glad it is working. Hopefully others with a similar problem will stumble upon this post and also find a resolution from it. Have a great day.
