rmcalhany
I have recently installed version 8 but have yet to have it successfully back up 2 of my 3 computers. The one running the engine backs up just fine. The one w/ the console does not (nor does my other computer). Both the one running the console, and the other, show in the Sources window as "ready". But the Log and email reports both says "can't access volume". Anyone have any ideas what's wrong? thx Robert
Mayoff
What exactly is displayed in the log? Can you browse the disks from the source screen?
rmcalhany
Cannot browse either from the Source screen. Says "source unavailable" but below it says it's "Ready". Log says: Can't access volume Macintosh HD on McAlhany iMac, error -530 ( unknown) SMTP: opening addr [DELETED] > Can't access volume Macintosh HD on Robert McAlhany’s MacBook Pro, error -530 ( unknown) 8/3/2009 8:17:43 AM: Copying New System Drive
CallMeDave
What version of the Retrospect OS X Client software is installed on the machines that are not responding properly? Dave
rmcalhany
6.3.019 Also, they're both running the most current apple OS (10.5.7). One is an Intel Core Duo iMac (~ 1 yr old), the other is an Intel Core Duo MacBook Pro (~1yr old). The one that is working (the one with the engine installed - also where the Media Set is) is an older Power Mac Dual G4 (867Mhz) running OS 10.4.11 and has the same client version installed). Also, I'm running Retrospect 8.1 (build 150). Robert Edited August 3, 2009 by Guest
CallMeDave
the one with the engine installed ... has the ... client ... installed. The machine that hosts the Retrospect Engine does not need/use client software. Files on that machine are considered to be local to Retrospect. So the common thread here is that no client communication is working as expected. How did you log them in? Via their IP address (Direct) or selecting them from the Multicast window? rmcalhany
I don't remember exactly, but I think via IP. I'll try removing them and adding them again tonight to see if that helps things out. Robert
