richardd
We're considering purchasing Retrospect for our network. What we want to do is a full drive backup of our Windows 2003 server which also hosts our Exchange 2003 server. We're not interested in backing up individual boxes or Exchange by itself, just as a part of the entire drive. Would it be necessary to purchase this add-on or would we be able to perform the full drive backup without it?
Mayoff
The only way to really backup the exchange data safely is with the exchange add-on. Retrospect can backup the C: drive and non-exchange data without the add-on. Open File Backup add on might protect exchange but it has not been tested
Skafield
I can see Exchange Server with the First and Second Storage Group but I have problems to see the mailboxes in Retrospect. Must I have the Exchange AddOn, too? Thank you!
Mayoff
Retrospect will sometimes turn on a 45 day trial for the exchange add-on. You are probably seeing this because of the trial. You can't see mailboxes because you have not configured the authentication correctly for authentication
Skafield
We have no trial version I Think. For the authentification I create an account "Retrospect". That is member of: 1) Domain User 2) Domain Administrator 3) Backup Operator 4) Admins No other groups include. Are there other requirements or what is wrong? Mayoff
Did you create a retrps[ect mailbox and send a message to initialize the mailbox? is it hidden from the GAL?
Skafield
Thank you for your help. Yes, I create a mailbox and send a message. But It's not hidden from the GAL.
Mayoff
It should NOT be hidden.
