mogilner Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 I have just started using Retrospect 8 Desktop. It seems everytime that I use it, it crashes the finder where all my icons disappear off of my desktop. I need to recycle the finder and it is fine. Any tricks to prevent this?
Mayoff Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 I don't know what "recycle the finder" means. Retrospect itself can not "crash" the finder. What do you see in the OS X Console? What errors are reported? What type of Macintosh? How much RAM?
mogilner Posted July 30, 2009 Author Report Posted July 30, 2009 The last two nights I have ran Retrospect 8 from a MacBook Pro with 10.5.7 connected to ONE Windows Vista Client. When I start I have approx. 20 icons on my desktop including 1 external hard disk. When I look after the backup are gone; the icons are gone. In order to get them back I must go under the Apple Menu to the Force Quit window and "RELAUNCH" the Finder. After that, the icons do return to the desktop. Please let me know what I should be looking for from the Console so that I can provided you with info.
CallMeDave Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 Look in the Console application under: LOG FILES ...~/Library/Logs ...... Crash Reporter .........Finder_2009_07_29_110705_mogilner.crash or something similar
