jwines
I'm using Retrospect 8.1.148.1 on a 2.8GHz iMac running 10.5.7 with 4 Gigs of RAM. I am using a file Backup to an external 1.5TB HD over FireWire 800. I've been getting the following error messages on several Backup Sets. MapError: unknown Mac error 14 TFile::Write: write failed, /Volumes/Backup Drive 2/Media Set A.rbf, oserr 14, error -1002 I do have the catalog set to compress. This is a brand new backup set, since I was unable to recycle the previous one, I kept getting a unknown error. I got the message this time on the completion of a Script, there where only compare errors (they happen all the time) and one 519 error, but I don't think they are related. Mayoff
How big is the set? File media sets are limited to 1 TB in size. When you need larger you really should use disk media sets.
jwines
The set that generated the error is currently 385 Gigs, with a 500 Meg catalog.
Mayoff
Have you run any disk checks on the drive? Do future backups run or do they fail too? Does the operation actually stop?
jwines
This error after the second run on this set. The directory is okay, I don't have the time to do a Zero out format or a Sector check right now, I usually look for I/O errors before I start checking. I will start a new disk based set and see what happens. --Joshua.
