prahn
I just installed the Retrospect Trial last week, for trying an upgrade from v6 to v8. Backing up clients does work, but I also have this issue with backing up local sources on my Xserve, as described in http://forums.dantz.com/showtopic.php?tid/29953 Any actual news, when this Bug will be fixed? Regards prahn Edited July 6, 2009 by Guest
CallMeDave
Robin noted this was bug # 22185, which is not on the current change list: http://kb.dantz.com/article.asp?article=9719&p=2 It's generally difficult for anyone other then the engineering team to know where specific bugs are on the stack to be addressed, but perhaps Robin can check the notes and see if there is any additional information he can provide readers here. Mayoff
We have reproduced the problem and it is on the list for our next release.
prahn
Ok, but will this be in 2 weeks or in 6 months?! That's really important for my buying decision...
Mayoff
It should be later this summer. I don't have a date. Being on the list is not a guarantee it will get fixed in the next release. I can never say 100% that a specific bug will be fixed until I see the bug is fixed and verified by QA.
prahn
I am testing Retrospect 8 for some weeks now, it is great and I would like to buy it. BUT there is still this BIG bug, which let not me do a local backup of my machine! Even in the last Bugfix release (8.1.150) this is not solved. Is there any workqround I can use? I tried excluding the directory /Volumes/System/Network, but this did not work. Please fix this bug ASAP or at least tell me a workaround! prahn Edited July 24, 2009 by Guest
Mayoff
The release this week was not scheduled. It was an emergency release to fix 2 urgent problems. We we still have more releases scheduled for this summer.
Mayoff
My notes now show this specific bug is scheduled to be fixed when we ship our snow leopard compatible version.
prahn
Ok, thank you for the reply... But is there really NO workaround to backup the local disk? Do I really need to switch back to the old Retrospect?? :-(
prahn
Hi! Any news on this bug? I just installed the update that was released today (8.1 build 525) started a backup from the local disk but I am still getting this error: error -1102 ( drive missing/unavailable) When will this be fixed?? Regards, prahn
Mayoff
I see that the bug 22185 is still open and assigned to an engineer for one of the Snow Leopard update releases. The first of two should be out within a month or less.
prahn
Hi! Based on your statement "It should be later this summer" I bought Retrospect. Now it's already November and I am still waiting on this bug to be fixed. Could you please set this bug on a higher priority? I am still using the old Retrospect version for my boot disk, and the new version for the other disk. I would be glad to skip this setup sometime on the near future. :-(
prahn
Once again a new version is released, but bug # 22185 is still not fixed. Please tell me, when this will be done...! Thx.
Mayoff
Don't know. The next update will have about 200 bug fixes though.
prahn
Hi! Based on your post in July I bought the License for Retrospect 8 for not really less money. Now, about half a year later, this bug is still not fixed and I still use the old Retrospect for the local disk. Could you please check with your developers to get this bug finally fixed! Thank you! prahn
Hi Mayoff! I did not receive any response to my last post from end of 2009. Sad. Any idea when Bug 22185 will be fixed? Please give me some feedback, as I am still using Retrospect 6.1 for doing local backup.
Mayoff
This will be fixed in the next release. The fix is done, we just haven't released the final software

CallMeDave
I did not receive any response to my last post from end of 2009. Sad. Please don't think that this web Forum is an official channel to and/or from EMC technical support. This is a community of users helping one another, with moderation and occasional contribution by a few EMC employees. Cheer up. Dave
