jamesiporter
Not sure if this is a software issue or a vendor issue. I just bought the license to upgrade from R6 to R8 today, and registered my demo at the office online and then entered the license code to the machine. Came home and tried to do the same to my home machine and it rejects it ("an error occurred"‚ without saying what the error was). I bought Desktop for 3 users, which I assume means 3 machines. thanks
Mayoff
Are you using a desktop trial license or a server trial license? This will help us narrow down the bug.

Mayoff
That sounds like the professional edition. You can delete the config80.dat and config80.bak files from library/application support/Retrospect after stopping the engine. Then restart the engine and type your license code from within the main Console screen.
Mayoff
Sometimes when a user upgrades they get a UAC code which requires activation on the EMC website. http://www.retrospect.com/uac
jamesiporter
I'm confused about which is the engine and which is the application. Where can i locate the engine controller? thanks.
jamesiporter
Ah, I see: in Sys. Prefs. THanks
jamesiporter
Still problems. When I put into the trash the two files suggested, all my existing settings were gone. Not good, as I have running backups I want to maintain. I was asked to insert my code, which I did (the new license code) and I got the same error message. Luckily I have not deleted the two pref. files. I assume I can put them back at least and find another work around?
Mayoff
Sometimes when a user upgrades they get a UAC code which requires activation on the EMC website. http://www.retrospect.com/uac If the above is not your situation, then contact our customer service. You may have an issue with the license code. If you are on a Server OS, you will need a Server edition code and not Desktop.
