joelande
I am beginning to not trust the software. Hopefully that distrust is misplaced. Can you explain the following: 1. Looking at Activities > Past, I see a script that has a yellow warning flag 2. Clicking on that script, the summary says "Execution completed successfully" 3. But the summary also says Remaining 1,268 files, 38.7 MB 4. The Log says + Executing Archive Staff WES at 4/15/2009 6:55 AM (Execution unit 1) To Media Set Archive... 4/15/2009 6:55:19 AM: Transferring from Staff WES 4/15/2009 7:02:14 AM: Execution completed successfully Completed: 68922 files, 6.0 GB Performance: 907.1 MB/minute Duration: 00:06:55 (00:00:09 idle/loading/preparing) 4/15/2009 7:02:14 AM: Verifying Archive 4/15/2009 7:04:24 AM: Execution completed successfully Remaining: 1268 files, 38.7 MB Completed: 67654 files, 6.0 GB Performance: 2906.1 MB/minute Duration: 00:02:10 (00:00:03 idle/loading/preparing) SMTP: opening addr 10.201.0.202 5. Before I started the copy, I looked at the size of the Media Set. It was 181,926 files and 16.3 GB. But the log implies that it copied 136,576 files and 12 GB. So, why: 1) Does the script have a warning icon, but display "Execution completed successfully 2) Does the script imply it copied 136,576 files for 12 GB. The original Media Set was 181,926 files and 16.3 GB, but the log implies it only had 1,268 files and 38.7 MB remaining. PS> All files copied, no compression. Mayoff
Is this a Copy Media Set or a copy Backup script? Or was this something else? When you compare the Past backups in "Staff WES" with "Archive" do they appear to be the same size? They should be the same. Matching is used with the copy operations, so it is possible for the destination set to be smaller then the source. Some screenshots may be helpful. joelande
Is this a Copy Media Set or a copy Backup script? A copy backup script. When you compare the Past backups in "Staff WES" with "Archive" do they appear to be the same size? They should be the same. I can't - the Archive is a big dumping ground of all of my Media Sets, so I can't (that I know of) isolate just the files related to the "Staff WES" backups. I'm not sure how a screen shot would help. The text of my post is clear: The script summary, AND log say "Execution completed successfully", but the icon in the list indicates a warning (yellow triangle with exclamation mark). At the same time, the summary and log also say "Remaining: 1268 files, 38.7 MB", so I don't know how that equates to "Execution completed successfully". I suppose you could account for the differences in size from the "matching" you mention, I don't know enough technically about how Retrospect is doing what it is doing. But I would assume a copy is a copy. And if there were 13 files in the original, there would be 13 files in the copy. Mayoff
if there were 13 files in the original, there would be 13 files in the copy If 5 of the 13 files already exist in the destination for some reason, then those 5 files will not get copied again (the snapshot will track the files even if they are not recopied).
